Liv Gerlach has never been to America before, but most students wouldn’t know it if they met her. Melissa Higgs, an Editing student at MIPA, was skeptical. “Are you lying? Is she really from Germany?” Higgs asked. In fact, Liv is … [Read more...] about Liv Gerlach shares what it’s like to be the only exchange student on campus

Marissa Higgs: All the way from the windy city

July 29, 2013 by Meg Darrow Leave a Comment

Sitting alone at the sports bar in the Vista for the first day of MIPA, no one would know that Marissa Higgs had an interesting story to share. “I’m from Chicago, but when I was a few months old, my family moved to Florida. I lived in the panhandle, which is really Deep South,” Higgs said, “They’d always say ‘welcome to the swamp, chomp chomp,’ what is it with people and their … [Read more...] about Marissa Higgs: All the way from the windy city

Why The Curtains Are Blue: The Importance of Reading On Our Empathy

By Christina Karcher | Sophomore | Grosse Pointe South High School [This work comes from the Art of Storytelling class, taught by Julia Satterthwaite.] Ever since I knew how to string letters into words, and those words into sentences, I have loved to read. I would read for hours at a time, fiction about fairies […]

Careers in crayon
