A Preview of Bobby Hawthorne’s Course Interview with Cheryl Pell

August 2, 2016 by Sydney Swindle Leave a Comment

The students attending today’s afternoon session of The Bobby Hawthorne Experience will be given the opportunity to conduct an interview with MIPA’s former executive director, Cheryl Pell. Pell was awarded with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013, and has also received numerous awards in recognition for her journalistic contributions.

“I think the interview will focus on the fact that I’m retiring from this university,” Pell said, “I told him I thought this was a crazy idea, there are a lot more exciting people around here for him to interview!”.

Despite Pell’s hesitation, several of Hawthorne’s students say they are excited for the opportunity to interview someone who has greatly impacted the very same workshop that they are currently attending.

“What I’m trying to teach them is to write stories that are ambitious and profound”, Hawthorne said, “this will give them the opportunity to do the interviewing and the writing that will ensure them an enjoyable experience.”

By Christina Karcher | Sophomore | Grosse Pointe South High School [This work comes from the Art of Storytelling class, taught by Julia Satterthwaite.] Ever since I knew how to string letters into words, and those words into sentences, I have loved to read. I would read for hours at a time, fiction about fairies […]

Careers in crayon
