MIPA volleyball tournament heats up as teams battle for the finals

UPDATE – TUESDAY, 5 P.M. EST: The semifinal matchups are now locked in after an exciting second round. Best Theme Ever defeated Broadcast News, while The Art of Storytelling knocked out Sports Writing. On the other side of the bracket, Journalistic Storytelling triumphed over Level Up, and InDesign for Publications bested Shoot Like a Pro. The semifinal games, set for tomorrow, will feature Best Theme Ever vs. The Art of Storytelling and Journalistic Storytelling vs. InDesign for Publications. Winners of each matchup will advance to the final round later the same day to compete for the 2025 MIPA Volleyball Championship.

The 2025 MIPA Volleyball Tournament continues today with Round two on the sand volleyball court at McDonel Hall.
In the second round, Best Theme Ever faces Broadcast News, while Sports Writing takes on The Art of Storytelling, with winners advancing to the semifinals tomorrow. On the other side of the bracket, Journalistic Storytelling goes up against Level Up, and Shoot Like a Pro battles InDesign for Publications. Those winners will also meet in the semifinals tomorrow.
The final two teams standing after tomorrow’s semifinal round will move on to the championship game, where the 2025 MIPA Volleyball champion will be named. The tournament has drawn crowds and enthusiasm as students rally behind their tracks in this competitive camp tradition.
The tournament began Monday afternoon with 13 teams competing in a single-elimination bracket. Broadcast News edged out Beyond the Basics, 11–9, while Sports Writing defeated Music Journalism, 10–7. The Art of Storytelling claimed a 10–8 win over Social Media Journalism, and Level Up advanced with a close 10–8 victory against Sports Broadcasting. InDesign for Publications progressed automatically after Design Like a Pro forfeited their match.
With high energy, tight scores, and strong team spirit, the MIPA Volleyball Tournament remains one of the workshop’s most anticipated events.
