Advanced InDesign final project allows chance to practice page design (click to see the pages)

As the workshop comes to a close, the Advanced InDesign class is working on their final project, three pages that could run in their own newspapers, instructor Jim Woehrle said.

“It gives them a chance to practice working on their own paper,” Woehrle said. “When school starts they will just be better at it. And they will be able to try even more new things.”

Mastering InDesign is a matter of practice, Woehrle said. “You get better just by doing it.”

Jake Thomann, a sophomore at Grand Ledge High School, said that he is using the project to create a mock-up of a news, sports and entertainment page. This way he can practice incorporating techniques from the class and prepare to design similar pages this upcoming school year.

“It’s cool because I get to be creative,” Hartland High School senior Haley Weigman said. “I am not really that artistic so it’s fun to be able to do something like this.”

Below are some of the pages they have been designing:

Starbucks   Top Athletes   Tech Overload   Equestrian
