Opening with their song “Baby Doll,” the Ben Daniels Band drew a crowd of about 100 student journalists and workshop instructors.
“I found myself jammin’ out, tapping my foot,” said Shannon Shaver of Plymouth high school. “It was a good experience having everyone outside covering entertainment in a different way.”
The band played for about a half an hour in the Snyder-Phillips courtyard. The performance was followed by a brief question and answer session where the band answered questions ranging from their musical influences to their favorite boy bands.
Will the first ever MIPA outdoor concert be returning for an encore next year? Camp co-director Rod Satterthwaite, who coordinated the event, seemed to think so.
“It was a good turn out, and the Q& A gave it a journalistic angle for the students. The band said they loved doing it and to give them a call next year.”
