Entertainment coverage is truly one of a kind here at MIPA. Over just one week students will cover a vast array of entertainment categories including movies, music, YouTube, television and anything that could possibly interest young people.
Teacher Jamie Flanagan says “he’d like to cover as much as humanly possible.”
Even sharing his past experiences in the field working for Detroit radio 96.3 WDVD for the past ten years on top of writing his own blogs. Flanagan looks to ready his students for the working world as quickly as possible. Rapidly taking notes, students of the entertainment coverage course have a lot to walk away with.
Flanagan says the keys to good entertainment coverage are to “be prepared, be professional, be a good listener and to ask lots of questions.”
The students’ big assignment for the class this year is to do a complete review/story package of The Dead Squirrels and James Gardin playing at this year’s MIPA concerts.
