Every Year MIPA hosts a variety show where students and advisors can compete to showcase their skills and talents. While some students may be jumping on stage to perform last minute, others have come prepared and have been practicing to blow everyone out of the water.
As of earlier this morning, eight acts are signed up to perform tonight on the on the East terrace level of Shaw hall at 6:45 p.m.
Monday night, dancing and lip synching group- Julie Bunk, Shannon Stoudemire, Aariston Dawson and Brianne Twiddy- decided that they were going to participate in the Variety Show.
“I’d say we’re pretty prepared,” Bunk said. “We didn’t come prepared we just came into this.”
Stoudemire plans on having fun with the act and expects to do well.
“We try to [practice] after lunch and before lunch,” she said. “I think we’re gonna do pretty well.”
While performing a dance to a mash up of High School Musical, Justin Bieber and One Direction they plan on getting a little “crazy” and blowing the audience away.
“Go big or go home,” Bunk said. “If we’re doing this we’re gonna win.”
Singer from last year, Bry Leach, gives pointers to those who are taking part in the variety show tonight.
“Have fun and don’t worry about anything,” Leach said. “If you mess up just keep going.”
Chad Sanders, MIPA workshop director and former variety performer will stick to being the host for tonights show.
“Don’t be shy,” he said. “Just go for it, people will applaud. People will respect someone who is going for it, even if it’s not perfect.”
