After a two-day battle of wits, Art of Storytelling emerged victorious in the 2025 MIPA Trivia Tournament, clinching first place in the final round held Wednesday afternoon. Sports Broadcasting claimed second, and InDesign for Publications rounded out the top three.
The tournament began Tuesday, when all 13 workshop classes were invited to participate in a 75-question trivia challenge, featuring a mix of multiple-choice and free-response questions. Students worked together as a class to answer questions covering a wide range of topics—from journalism and MIPA history to pop culture and current events.
One class did not attend, resulting in an automatic loss. The remaining 12 teams competed fiercely, but only nine classes earned a spot in Wednesday’s final round: Level Up, Broadcast News, Journalistic Storytelling, Art of Storytelling, Best Theme Ever, Beyond the Basics, InDesign for Publications, Sports Broadcasting, and Sports Writing.
In the finals, quick thinking and teamwork were key as classes buzzed in answers and debated responses. Art of Storytelling pulled ahead early and maintained their lead, while Sports Broadcasting and InDesign for Publications fought closely for second and third.
With creativity, collaboration, and a whole lot of brainpower, the MIPA Trivia Tournament proved to be another exciting way students showed off their skills outside the newsroom.
