Isabella Hickey is a perfectionist. Because of this, she is constantly reminding herself not to overanalyze things. To Hickey, a senior at Seaholm High, this is the most important life lesson she has learned so far.

“I’ll spend hours on assignments sometimes and get overwhelmed, but it’s best to just do it and get it over with,” Hickey said.

If you ask her, she can recall small details from her past and claims an excellent memory as one of her hidden talents. She is passionate about the environment; her biggest pet peeve is “people who don’t recycle; if I can recycle, I will do it every time.”

When it comes to entertainment, her go-to favorites are the “Harry Potter” movies and The Beatles because of their creativity. If looking for a good read, Hickey recommends “The Book Thief” to anyone who appreciates an author’s exquisite storytelling and great eye for detail. But if she could meet anyone in the world, it would have to be Angelina Jolie for her contributions to society, for which she feels Jolie is not often recognized for.

“She’s not a typical celebrity, she’s a leader,” Hickey said.

As a child, Hickey was very active and outgoing and has many fond memories of playing with her friends. Bike riding and a love for nature are two things from her past that she still enjoys and hopes will remain lifelong passions.  But Hickey’s most important personal goal is to get into the college of her choice, Michigan State, so she can begin preparing for a career in marketing. She chose State because, unlike her own high school, she admires the intense school spirit of the Spartans and the many opportunities available here. Opportunities, which, with her passion and intellect, she will no doubt take advantage of.
