While the MIPA journalism summer workshop offers a chance for new staff members to hone their journalistic skills, some students have attended the workshop two or more times. For these students, the repeat opportunities offer a chance to specialize in different areas.
Among these veterans, senior Alexa Danek, a photography editor for Laingsburg High School’s paper and yearbook, came to MIPA camp her junior year and attended the advanced InDesign for Newspaper class to help her skills with a newspaper template. This year she is attending the sports photography class with Ike Lea. Since she is the photo editor she wants to try to advance her skills as a photographer in order to help lead the other students. Another two-time attendee is junior Antonia Vrana. For her junior year she became the design editor that over looks the design aspects of the yearbook and newspaper at Laingsburg. Last year, her sophomore year, she also attended the advanced InDesign for Newspaper class. She said she holds high hopes to become the editor-in-chief of the yearbook next year with her advanced knowledge of design and the way she works well with others.
