MIPA staff to kick off talent show, prepare for closing ceremony

The week is coming to an end for all MIPA students. Student Director Kirk Weber said campers should have a lot to look forward to. "We have Tunes by T coming in and setting up for the talent show," Weber said. "They have the microphones and lights to make it look like a stage." MIPA summer workshop shows ‘Mad Hot Ballroom’

On the evening of Aug. 2, MIPA staff members got together two "gargantuan" bags of popcorn in order to put together 300 single bags for the students who decided to come to the showing of the documentary "Mad Hot Ballroom".  According to staff member Melissa Mueller, the staff normally tries to get movies that have not yet premiered in theaters. Students, staff share opinions about sexting

On the evening of Aug. 1, MIPA Summer Journalism Workshop students attended a sexting seminar headed by a panel of experts with various experience about the topic. Administrators, staff keep cool at Shaw Hall

"Beat the heat" is this year's motto for the 2011 MIPA Summer Jounrnalism Workshop. Both Workshop Director Betsy Pollard Rau and staff member Sunshine Weber agree that this year is much hotter than last year. "One of the biggest concerns is the heat," Weber said. First-timers learn the ropes at MIPA 2011

For over 400 young student journalists at the 2011 MIPA summer workshop, many have returned for another year of fun, but many more are here for the first time.
